Pastors, churches, and individuals who supported the trip to Romania,
Thank you!
The Lord blessed the trip immensly. Forty-two men and women from over 20 churches attended the 2 day Conference on May 6-7 held at Filidelfia Baptist Church, Rominica-Valcea, Romania, and hosted by Pastor Ilie Mondoc. All of the churches present took materials with them to put the program in place in their home towns. What a time of fellowship and mutual assistance we had as those men encouraged me as much as I could have ever encouraged them.
While in the southern portion of Romania, a number of other services were held, as well. There were Evangelistic Service at both the extention church planted by Pastor Mondoc and at his home church in RM-Valcea. Sunday services were held in both locations, also, and we had the privilege of seeing one Greek Orthodox man accept Christ as his Savior on Sunday AM.
The second week of the trip brough me to Sighetu Marmetiei to spend a week with missionary Brent George, and the Hope for the Future Ministry. It was a privilege to teach the SGM materials to the 12 students studying for the ministry, and to assist in the Bible clubs on Saturday.
The special part of the second week came the last day in Romania, Sunday May 15th. I had the chance to be part of a Baptismal service in a Gypsy village up near the Hungarian border. These people are just soaking in the Gospel, and the baptismal was like no other I had ever attended. The Gypsy village made it special, with both a 2 hour service, ending in the baptism of one man, and a feast of a lunch to follow. During the service, two Gypsies accepted Christ as Savior. Both of them prayed out loud, right in front of 60 other people, unashamed! What a joy! The Romanians still get excited about 1 man being baptized. What a challeng we Americans should take from that!
That service was followed by a trip to two other Gypsy villages for open-air services held right on the side of the road. The Gypsy people are just learning about who Jesus is, and what He has done for them. They are so open to the Gospel, and the Holy Spirit is doing amazing things in their midst. Pray for His blessings!
Thank you for your support financially, but more importantly, thank you for your prayer support. God did some amazing things, and your support allowed me and SGM to be a part of them.
Serving Christ,
Chris Mitchell, Executive Director, SGM
